    In Edo's peaceful time, a "Devil" named Heizou Hasegawa was tasked with defeating evils threatening it. As the chief officer in charge of protecting against crime and arson, he upheld his duty during the Tenmei era in 1783. His reputation as Devil Heizou made him both feared and revered among those who knew him.
