A typical college student named Totonou Kunous usually starts his day by making curry for breakfast. However, his routine is interrupted when police officers arrive at his doorstep and ask about his whereabouts on the previous night. Unfortunately, one of his classmates was discovered dead near his home, leading to Totonou being taken into custody as a prime suspect in the murder case. Despite having no connection with the victim, Totonou maintains his innocence since he had no motive to harm him. Nevertheless, when a witness places him at the crime scene, Totonou is held in custody for a longer period than expected. As he interacts more with the police department members, they realize that Totonou is not an ordinary suspect. Although he can be challenging to deal with, Totonou possesses exceptional observational skills and uses them to guess each officer's personal problems based on just a few clues. As evidence against him continues to mount, Totonou must employ his deductive abilities to unravel the mystery behind his classmate's death and clear his name while discovering who is framing him.

Mystery to Iu nakare was nominated for the Manga Taisho award in 2019 and 2020, placing second and sixth, respectively. In 2019, the manga was nominated for the 65th Shogakukan Manga Award in the General category; it later won the 67th award in the same category in 2022. The series was also nominated for the 44th Kodansha Manga Award in the General category in 2020, and the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award in 2022.The series has been published in English as Do Not Say Mystery by Seven Seas Entertainment. The manga has also been released in French as Dont Call It Mystery by Noeve Grafx since May 13, 2021.Mystery to Iu nakare was adapted into a Japanese television drama that was broadcasted on Fuji TV from January 10, 2022 to March 28, 2022.
