In ancient times, the city of Irede was constructed as a tribute to a deity. It is renowned for its exceptional artistry, exquisite beverages, and alluring courtesans. Tourists from all corners of the continent flock to this place in great numbers. However, what these visitors are unaware of is that sinister creatures known as shades lurk in its streets. Sari, who possesses the unique ability to control shades, runs Pale Moon, a legendary brothel that has become part of local folklore. One day, Sari encounters Xixu, a skilled shadeslayer from the capital city, who has recently arrived in town. As soon as they meet, dark shadows start to stir beneath Irede's surface.

Tsuki no Shirosa wo Shirite Madoromu began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou on June 2, 2012. The first official volume was published on November 10, 2022 by Drecom under the DRE Novels label.The series has been published digitally in English as A Pale Moon Reverie by J-Novel Club since May 22, 2023.
