The narrative commences with Nick, an accomplished explorer who leads his team under the guidance of his mentor and father figure, Argus. Following the successful completion of their most recent assignment, Nick discovers that a portion of the earnings has vanished, prompting him to suspect one of his companions was responsible. To his astonishment, Argus absolves the offender and instead dismisses Nick after being accused of embezzlement himself. Several weeks later, Nick finds himself in a local tavern, where fate leads him to encounter three other adventurers who have also experienced betrayal and distrust. Inspired by their shared experiences, Nick proposes that they form a new party together. Thus, the story begins with a group of adventurers united in their belief that humans are inherently corrupt and seeking to make an honest living.
