Death City hosts the renowned Death Weapon Meister Academy, led by Lord Death himself. Its objective is to cultivate "Death Scythes" for the Shinigami to wield against evil forces in their fantastical realm. Unlike physical weapons, these Death Scythes are derived from human hybrids capable of transforming into Demon Weapons after consuming 99 malevolent souls and one witch's soul.
Soul Eater Evans, a Demon Scythe with an aloof demeanor, seeks to attain Death Scythe status alongside his strict-minded meister, Maka Albarn. Alongside them are Black☆Star, a hotheaded individual with a caring weapon Tsubaki; and Death the Kid, Lord Death's own son, who wields twin pistols Patty and Liz as dual weapons.
Soul Eater chronicles their adventures at Shibusen, where they undertake missions to collect souls and safeguard the city from threats while simultaneously fostering mental, physical, and spiritual growth under the watchful eye of the sun.
