East Tokyo United (ETU) has been facing challenges in Japan's top soccer league for several years now. Despite their best efforts, they have barely managed to avoid relegation. The team's recent five-match losing streak has further exacerbated the situation, leading to low morale among players and fans alike. Rumors suggest that even the home ground municipality is considering withdrawing its support. With multiple coaches fired and questionable financial decisions in player recruitment, ETU seems to be on a downward spiral. Under pressure from general manager Kousei Gotou, the board of directors takes a risk by hiring Takeshi Tatsumi as their new coach. Although once a successful soccer player at ETU, Tatsumi left years ago and has since proven himself capable in managing an amateur team in England's lower division. Tatsumi faces an uphill battle; he is viewed as a traitor by some fans, and the team must compete against larger-budgeted opponents with better players. However, Tatsumi believes that underdogs can still defeat giants and claims to be skilled at doing so.
